KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will hold a live auction on May 4 to sell surplus and confiscated hunting and fishing equipment.

Registration will open at 7 a.m., and the auction will begin at 9:30 a.m. The event will take place outdoors, rain or shine, at the department’s headquarters campus at 1 Sportsman’s Lane in Frankfort.

This will be the first of two auctions planned for the year, with another tentatively set for October.

More than 300 items will be available, including trucks, firearms, canoes, trailers, ATVs, camera equipment and other gear. A full list of items is available online.

All items will be sold as-is, and anyone purchasing firearms must pass a background check.

Proceeds from the auction will go into the department’s game and fish fund, which supports operating expenses, conservation efforts and outdoor recreation programs across Kentucky.
