LMPD believes 27-year-old Adam Troutman was fatally struck by a vehicle late Thursday night.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police have released new information about the vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run that occurred Thursday night.
Police said the vehicle is likely to have damage on the right side along with a broken right headlight.
Authorities believe it may be a 2016 or 2017 Chevy Equinox, though the color remains unknown.
Officers were called to the area of Vaughn Mill Road and Briscoe Lane around 11 p.m. after receiving a report of a person down near the intersection.
When officers arrived, they found a man dead in a nearby ditch line, according to police.
The preliminary investigation determined that the victim, identified by the coroner as 27-year-old Adam Troutman, was walking along the right shoulder of a dark, unlit section of Vaughn Mill Road heading north when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind.
Police said the impact knocked Troutman off the roadway and into the ditch line.
Authorities said the driver did not stop to check on him or provide aid.
