LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police have taken a man into custody following a shooting Friday in Louisville’s Fairdale neighborhood.
Officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 9300 block of National Turnpike, according to a release from Louisville Metro Police.
When officers arrived, they learned an adult male had already been taken to UofL Hospital by private vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said the victim was alert and conscious upon arrival at the hospital.
Authorities later arrested 25-year-old Korvelle C. Thomas in connection with the incident.
According to the arrest citation, a witness said he and the victim were meeting Thomas to load car parts into a vehicle when Thomas pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
Court documents state an unarmed security guard saw Thomas jump a fence near South Park School and ordered him to drop the weapon. Officers arrested him shortly after.
Thomas faces charges of assault and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. His court date is scheduled for April 18.
