A well-known downtown Italian restaurant is taking a break from its midday service.
Vincenzo’s, located at 150 S. 5th St., has temporarily suspended lunch starting April 15, according to a notice posted on its front door. The message was signed by owners Vincenzo and Agostino Gabriele.
“As we head into the summer season, we will be PAUSING our lunch service this season,” the statement read. “This break will give us time to refresh, get creative, and come back even stronger!”
Lunch will still be available for pre-scheduled private events and The Louisville Forum gatherings, while dinner service will continue as usual.
The restaurant’s lunch hours, previously offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, are expected to return on Sept. 8.
“We’re excited to introduce a new menu featuring more inventive sandwiches, creative pastas, while keeping what we believe are the city’s best salads, as well as a variety of thoughtfully crafted entrees,” the statement added.
The announcement also mentioned upcoming changes in downtown Louisville, including Yum! Brands’ plan to move into a new headquarters at PNC Tower, 101 S. Fifth St., with relocation expected in 2026 after renovations.
“We are also looking forward to welcoming over 500 new neighbors as KFC relocates its headquarters downtown and right across the street,” the statement continued. “This is an exciting moment for our entire community and one we can’t wait to be a part of.”
The pause in lunch service comes as the nearly 40-year-old restaurant’s building enters new ownership. Louisville-based Poe Companies plans to redevelop the surrounding block, including converting the Humana Building at 500 W. Main St. into a large convention hotel.
Kevin Daley, Vincenzo’s general manager, previously said the restaurant plans to remain long-term.
“We’ve had a great relationship with our landlords at Humana … almost like a strategic partnership of sorts,” he said. “Hopefully things will shake out and we can just sit tight and live here for another 40 years.”
The restaurant plans to relaunch its lunch service in a few months with updated offerings and renewed energy.
“Until then, we hope to see you for dinner — and wish you a wonderful Derby and summer season with family and friends,” the statement concluded. “Thank you as always, for being part of our downtown Louisville community!”
