East Louisville home destroyed by fire; dog rescued

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A fire broke out at a home in east Louisville on Friday afternoon.

Crews responded just before noon and found the house fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.

The home is located on Coventry Greens Drive in the Indian Springs community, near Tom Sawyer Park just north of Anchorage.

Neighbors called 911.

No one was inside at the time, but firefighters rescued a dog from the home. They later had to retreat due to the intensity of the fire and the risk of a collapse.

During the incident, one firefighter suffered a minor head injury during a partial collapse but was treated and cleared at the scene.

Anchorage Middletown Fire officials said the home is a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
