LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police charged a man with murder after a woman was shot and killed inside a Jeffersontown apartment Tuesday night.
According to a citation from the Jeffersontown Police Department, officers arrived at an apartment in the 3000 block of Fir Trail around 7:30 p.m. in response to a reported shooting.
When officers reached the scene, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her shoulder. EMS transported her to the hospital, where she later died during emergency surgery.
Jeffersontown police identified the victim as 19-year-old Noraa Deglow.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Adam Thomas at the scene. According to the report, they recovered a revolver from his jacket pocket that contained one spent cartridge.
Thomas told police the two had been watching TV and smoking before the incident. He said he picked up the gun and tossed it, causing it to discharge.
Witnesses inside the apartment told police that Thomas had a habit of removing his firearm and pointing it at people in what he described as a playful manner. One witness also reported hearing Thomas say the gun had misfired immediately after the shooting.
Thomas is being held at Metro Corrections. He appeared in court Wednesday morning for his arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty, and the court set his bond at $500,000 cash.
