Board brings Christmas Spirit to students, staff

December 20, 2024

The Clay County Board of Education exemplifies the Christmas Spirit.
Over 600 full-time employees received a $1,500 Christmas bonus in the first week of December.
But the goodwill didn’t stop there.  On December 11, 2024, in a heartwarming display of Christmas spirit, Superintendent William Sexton joined forces with Santa Claus to deliver presents to all elementary school students, over 2,000 in total, within the school district.
The surprise visit brought immense joy and excitement to students across the district. Santa Claus, accompanied by Superintendent Sexton, made rounds to each elementary school, distributing gifts and spreading Christmas cheer.
“Seeing the smiles on our students’ faces as they received presents from Santa Claus was truly heartwarming,” said Superintendent Sexton. “We believe in creating a positive and joyful learning environment, and this special event is a testament to our commitment to our students’ well-being.”
The event was met with enthusiastic appreciation from both students and staff.
Sexton said a lot of people made these events possible for the board to do.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to our incredible school board members: Leewood Cornett, Mark Hoskins, Roy Allen, Robin Combs, and Anthony Lovett! Your dedication and hard work make a significant impact on the lives of our students,” Sexton said.”I also want to give a special shout-out to Pam Mathis at our local CAP! Pam has been an invaluable asset to our district, consistently going above and beyond. I am fortunate to have such supportive community members! I am also grateful for the dedicated teachers and staff who work tirelessly to support our students. I firmly believe that it is because of the dedication and commitment from all of you that Clay County Public Schools is such a success.”
