Arletha M. Moser

Arletha M. Moser, 89, formerly of William Street in Croghan, died late Thursday evening, November 28, 2024 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where Arletha has been a resident since 2019. Mrs. Moser was born on January 13, 1935 in the town of Lowville, daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Mabel Elsie (Widrick) Mayer. She graduated from Lowville Free Academy, the Class of 1951. She married Donald J. Moser on June 9, 1955 at Lowville Mennonite Church, Rev. Lloyd Boshart, officiating. She and Donald made their home on the Moser homestead. Donald died on July 17, 2023. Arletha is survived by her children and spouses, Merlin R. (Charlene) Moser of Croghan; Teresa Moser (Phillip S. Rempel) of Albany, OR; Steven D. (Jeanette) Moser of Croghan; Janice M. (Timothy) Bush of Lowville; Clinton L. (Sherri) Moser of Oneida, KY; her daughter-in-law, Susan D. Moser (and the late Willard J.) of Deer River; 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; her sister, Pauline Lehman (and the late Richard) of Croghan; her two brothers, Aaron J. (Millie) Mayer of Lowville, and Wilfred C. "Willie" Mayer (and the late Marilyn) of Lowville; and her sister-in-law, Claire Moser of Croghan. She is also predeceased by her great grandson, Ezekiel Joseph Moser, her sisters, Margaret Jean Mayer, and Joan Marie Mayer. Arletha is a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church, and the Dorcas Sisters Sewing Circle. She and Donald volunteered for Mennonite Central Committee, helping in the warehouse in Ephrata, PA and also served as a director for the local AMAS (Mennonite Mutual Aid-fire) organization. She volunteered many years for the Croghan Food Pantry and for the Red Cross blood mobile in Croghan. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 am at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Pastors Paul Mast and Bruce Roggie officiating. All are welcome to a luncheon following Arletha's service. Calling hours will be on Monday, December 2nd, at the church from 6 to 8:00pm. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery. Arletha's family would like to thank Mort Mathys and the staff of the 2nd floor nursing home for the care and compassion which was given to their mother.
