KENTUCKY — Police arrested a Tennessee couple Sunday after officers said they discovered drugs and a stolen handgun following a fight at The Mint Gaming Hall in Franklin.
According to a uniform citation, officers with the Franklin Police Department responded to a report of a physical altercation at The Mint on Nashville Road. Security staff told police that a man was fighting employees and had been restrained on the ground when officers arrived.
Police identified the man as 35-year-old Derrick Bradley of Nashville, Tennessee. Officers said Bradley smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared highly intoxicated. They took him into custody.
During a search, officers reported finding methamphetamine and cocaine on Bradley, along with more than $400 in cash. A K-9 unit later alerted to the vehicle Bradley had driven to the scene, prompting a search.
Police said that search uncovered marijuana, a handgun, digital scales and additional cash. Authorities confirmed the handgun had been reported stolen in Nashville.
Officers lodged Bradley in the Simpson County Jail on multiple charges, including public intoxication, second-degree disorderly conduct, fourth-degree assault, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving two grams or more of methamphetamine, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving four grams or more of cocaine, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Police also arrested 40-year-old Terrika West of Ashland City, Tennessee, who had arrived at the gaming hall with Bradley.
Authorities charged West with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving two grams or more of methamphetamine, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving four grams or more of cocaine, trafficking in marijuana under eight ounces and receiving stolen property involving a firearm.
Both suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
