LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An electrical fire at an apartment building Tuesday evening forced five residents from their homes.
The Louisville Fire Department responded to the 2400 block of Idlewylde Court just before 6 p.m. and observed smoke coming from the roof of a three-story apartment building, according to department spokesperson Donovan Sims. The location is off Idlewylde Drive near Brownsboro Road.
No one was inside the affected apartment units when the fire broke out, and smoke detectors alerted residents. Sims said the fire originated in the ceiling and the floor joist space between apartments and was contained to one floor.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. Sims said 37 firefighters responded, along with four engines, two trucks, and one battalion, to extinguish the fire.
Five adults were displaced by the fire, but no injuries were reported. Investigators later determined the fire was electrical in nature.
