LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man injured two Shively police detectives Wednesday afternoon after ramming unmarked police vehicles while attempting to flee a drug raid, according to court documents.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the 6700 block of Thalia Avenue in Louisville’s Southside neighborhood. Police were serving a search warrant at the home of suspected drug dealer Harold Bullard Jr. when investigators spotted Bullard driving a white 2017 Dodge Durango nearby.

According to the arrest citation, Bullard drove past his home and continued north on Kenwood Drive after noticing police in his yard. Detectives and K-9 officers attempted to stop his vehicle near Kenwood Drive and 3rd Street.

Because Bullard has a known history of fleeing and resisting police, detectives tried to box in his vehicle to prevent him from escaping. Instead, Bullard immediately rammed an unmarked police vehicle with its emergency equipment activated, then reversed and struck the same vehicle a second time.

Two detectives inside the vehicle reported pain following the collision.

Bullard continued to flee the area, but officers broke off the chase due to the presence of civilians. A short time later, police located the Durango parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Downes Terrace.

Using K-9 units, officers tracked Bullard and found him in the 400 block of Downes Lane along with his girlfriend, 25-year-old Brianna Bryant.

During a search of Bullard’s home, detectives reported finding a trafficking amount of marijuana, a large sum of cash, and four to five pounds of methamphetamine, possibly more. Police also seized three handguns.

Bullard, 55, and Bryant were arrested and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.

Bullard was already wanted on felony warrants for escape, fleeing police and drug charges. His new charges include fleeing or evading police, two counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, enhanced trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, and three counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Bryant was already facing charges of tampering with a prison monitoring device, escape, and theft by failing to make required disposition of property. Her bond was set at $7,500 cash, and she is scheduled to appear in arraignment court on Dec. 19.
