Jefferson County, Ala. — Former Kentucky offensive lineman Daniel Mincey was arrested Saturday after stabbing two University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) football players ahead of the Blazers’ game against South Florida.

The victims were hospitalized but are reported to be in stable condition, according to UAB officials. The incident reportedly occurred during team breakfast hours, though the victims’ names have not been released.

Mincey, who redshirted as a freshman at Kentucky in 2024 before transferring to UAB in 2025, faces aggravated assault and attempted murder charges. His brother, Gerald Mincey, also joined Kentucky in 2024 as a senior transfer.

UAB stated that the safety and well-being of all students is their top priority, and the investigation is ongoing. More details will be released as they become available.
