Several Kentucky workers are receiving closure notices right before Thanksgiving, including employees in Jefferson County.
Ninety-three workers at International Paper have been told they will lose their jobs in the new year. The impact extends beyond Louisville, with 230 workers affected in Simpson County and 112 employees affected in Fleming County.

International Paper sent a statement to WAVE News confirming the closures. The company announced that its Compton, California, and Louisville facilities will shut down in January 2026. Customers will continue receiving orders from other company sites.
