A 40-year-old man was struck and killed Wednesday evening by a Christian County sheriff’s deputy, according to the Kentucky State Police.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 4500 block of Highway 41. Investigators said the deputy was driving a marked cruiser and responding to a service call when he hit the pedestrian.

The victim, identified as Brandon Higgins of Hopkinsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the deputy involved.

State police are still investigating the crash, and no additional details have been made public.
