LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Louisville’s Beechmont neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police were called to the 300 block of West Kingston Avenue around 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 1 after reports of a shooting, department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

Officers arrived to find a man outside who had been shot. He was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died.

According to court documents, investigators learned that Josiah Ricketts had invited the victim inside to give him marijuana, then was seen running from the building to a vehicle.

Witnesses identified Ricketts to police, and officers later found the vehicle and firearm used in the shooting near his home.

Police said Ricketts and his attorney met with detectives at the LMPD Homicide Office, where he admitted to the shooting and tried to hide evidence.

He faces charges of murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
