A man was killed in an early morning shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot in an upstairs apartment in the 6000 block of East Washington Street at 1:05 a.m. on Wednesday. That’s near the intersection of East Washington and North Arlington Avenues.
When the officers arrived, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound. He was sent to the hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
On Wednesday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 56-year-old Ralph David Cox Jr.
The IMPD believes this was a targeted attack, but they do not have a motive or a suspect description.
