Guns, Fentanyl, and 12 Charges: Gang Unit Arrests Convicted Felon in Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 26-year-old convicted felon on Monday after conducting an undercover investigation into illegal drug and firearm sales in the area.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit took Ruben Navedo Jr. into custody on October 5, 2026. Investigators identified Navedo as a documented gang member with three prior felony convictions.

The arrest came as a direct result of a targeted narcotics investigation, during which detectives built a solid case showing that Navedo was actively dealing both drugs and weapons. Authorities officially issued an arrest warrant for him on September 30, 2026.

When deputies tracked Navedo down and moved in to make the arrest on Monday, they discovered fentanyl and various drug paraphernalia on his person.

Navedo now faces more than a dozen criminal charges, which include sale of cocaine, sale of cannabis, and felon in possession of a firearm.
