1 Person Killed In Single Vehicle Crash

One person is dead, following a crash on I-65.

It happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. Thursday. According to Indiana State Police, a preliminary investigation indicated that a 2012 Chevrolet Express van was heading northbound on Interstate 65 in the right lane while dragging a trailer.

According to preliminary evidence, the trailer disconnected from the van, causing it to leave the roadway and enter the east side ditch. The van then rolled and came to rest on its side.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. The passenger was declared dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. The Clinton County Coroner’s Office will release the passenger’s identify pending notification of relatives.

The driver was identified as Alfredo Hernandez Manuel, 27, of Indianapolis. Manuel was not hurt in the crash. The crash is still being investigated by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.

There is currently no more information available for release.

Indiana State Police were supported on the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Frankfort Police Department, Clinton County Coroner’s Office, Colfax Fire Department, and Clinton County EMS.
