A 57-year-old Rockville man has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for a series of violent and graphic threats against at least 25 people and their families, according to the United States. This information was provided by the Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware.
According to federal prosecutors, Justin Dynlacht wrote over 20 emails, faxes, and letters to workers of corporations in Delaware and other states between November 2022 and April 2024. According to court filings, the communications became more aggressive, with threats of torture, sexual assault, and murder. At least one used racist rhetoric, and Dynlacht signed some messages with the names of mass murderers.
According to prosecutors, the threats forced numerous beneficiaries and their families to change their lifestyles.
In May 2024, FBI investigators arrested Dynlacht at his house in Rockville. In March 2025, he pled guilty to one count of stalking a Delaware resident who received threats.
U.S. District Judge Richard G. Andrews sentenced Dynlacht to 46 months in prison, which is more than the suggested federal sentencing recommendations of 30 to 37 months. Prosecutors contended that the recommended range did not accurately reflect the magnitude of his actions or the dread instilled in the victims.
Dynlacht was also sentenced to three years of supervised release under stringent conditions designed to protect the community. The FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Task Force investigated the incident.
