An 18-year-old Georgia teen faces malice murder charges after authorities discovered human remains inside a container and in the trunk of his car, according to Georgia police.
Kingston Lammar Bradley was detained Friday after an incident at his apartment complex. Witnesses told detectives Bradley was hauling a container through the complex. During a Friday press conference, Smyrna Police Lt Meredith Holt claimed Bradley dropped the container and went into his apartment after realising people were observing him.
Witnesses glanced inside the dumped container, saw what seemed to be human remains, and quickly contacted authorities.
Officers had previously visited Bradley’s residence because relatives of a missing lady traced her vehicle and phone to the property. According to Holt, authorities did not execute a search warrant at that time.
Following the witnesses’ emergency call, authorities obtained a search warrant for Bradley’s vehicle. Investigators discovered a tightly wrapped waste bag inside the trunk, “showing the outline of a body part”, according to a Smyrna Police Department announcement. The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and confirmed that the contents were human remains.
Smyrna Police Chief Keith Zgonc identified the victim as Shanteria “KT” Mosley, who had previously been reported missing by her family.
Mosley worked as a DoorDash driver, according to Holt, but the firm informed investigators that she was not on duty on the day she went missing. DoorDash confirmed to People Magazine that Mosley’s account was last activated on Tuesday.
Investigators have yet to ascertain whether Bradley and Mosley had a relationship.
“This is a shocking crime. I’m not sure how else to characterise it. I’ve been in law enforcement for 25 years and have been involved in several homicide cases. And I’ve worked on crimes against children for 16 years, and this is an especially heinous act,” Holt said. “I cannot imagine what the family is going through.”
Holt stated that while cops had previously answered calls at Bradley’s residence reporting domestic conflicts, nothing in those records indicated a potential for killing. Police continue to explore the area for other remains.
Bradley has been charged with malice murder as well as concealing the death of another individual. On Thursday, he appeared in Cobb County Magistrate Court, and the judge refused his bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for October.
