The Columbus Division of Police has identified two people who were discovered dead in southeast Columbus on Monday afternoon in what the department describes as an apparent murder-suicide.
Around 2:48 p.m., Columbus police responded to a suicide attempt at a home in the 2000 block of Bannon Court. According to police, the 911 call came from a little child.
Officers arrived and discovered two unresponsive victims inside the house. One person was in the upstairs bedroom, while the other was in the garage.
According to authorities, the Columbus Division of Fire pronounced both dead shortly after 5 p.m.
In a late Monday evening update, authorities identified the two people killed as 33-year-old Monu Rijal, a victim, and 41-year-old Bhim Mishra.
Sgt. Joseph Albert believes the two had a “domestic relationship.” Albert stated that there were no previous calls for service to the home.
Authorities are not seeking any other suspects, and there is no current threat to the community, he said.
According to 10TV, homicide detectives remained on the site for several hours, with neighbors gathered outside. Around 4:40 to 4:45. “I heard sirens and looked out my window to see cop cars flying, jumping out, and rushing into the house,” said neighbor Kayla Dooley. “Just a really, really sad scene.” “Everybody is just shocked,” she added. “We live in a somewhat peaceful neighborhood. Nothing happens over here, so it’s quite devastating.”
Her husband, Terrence Dooley, agreed. It is not typical. “It’s relatively quiet,” he added. “We don’t even do trick-or-treating on this street. It’s just that calm, so it’s awful that this occurred.”
The incident is still under investigation.
