An Indianapolis man has been charged with child molesting and kidnapping after allegedly abducting a 7-year-old girl from her bedroom and transporting her to his home to assault her, according to FOX 59/CBS 4.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a home on Admiral Drive about 10:30 p.m. on August 31 to investigate reports of a possible kidnapping. The girl’s guardian informed police that she went into her bedroom at 10 p.m. after finishing her homework. The guardian entered the room around 13 minutes later to find it empty and the window open with the screen cut.
According to court filings, the girl’s relatives eventually located her at the house of 44-year-old Isidro Gonzalez-Candido. The youngster informed authorities that Gonzalez-Candido grabbed her from the window, put her in a car, and took her to his house, where she claimed he abused her.
Police said Gonzalez-Candido admitted to taking the youngster from the house, but said she “begged him to take her with him.” He disputed the molestation claims.
Gonzalez-Candido was taken into Marion County Jail on charges of child molesting, burglary, criminal confinement, abduction, and violence. ICE also issued him a federal detainer, according to court records. The hearing is planned for Tuesday.
