A 46-year-old man is facing several drug trafficking charges after police claim they saw him carrying a large quantity of narcotics on Madison Street.
On September 3, 2026, members of the Worcester authorities Neighborhood Response Team were patrolling the neighborhood when they noticed Salvatore Venuti pull a large clear bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine from his rucksack, according to authorities.
According to police, Venuti attempted to leave when he saw officers approaching.
Officers apprehended Venuti, who then attempted to conceal a bag of suspected crack cocaine in his jeans, according to authorities.
According to police, Venuti refused to comply and continued to tense his arms, pull away from policemen, and kick in their direction.
While kicking cops, Venuti collided with the front bumper of a police cruiser, leaving a substantial dent, according to authorities.
Venuti was handcuffed and placed in the recovery posture.
Officers found nine bags of crack cocaine totaling 35.35 grams, eight bags of fentanyl totaling 12.19 grams, one bag of crystal methamphetamine, one bag of oxycodone pills totaling 42.79 grams, and cash on Venuti’s person and backpack, according to police.
A digital scale and one counterfeit pistol were also discovered inside the rucksack, according to authorities.
Venuti has been charged with trafficking class B (18 grams to 36 grams), trafficking class A (37 grams to 99 grams), trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl, and possession with intent class A.
