A Pennsylvania man is in jail after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and holding her, her young child, and her grandmother captive for three days.
According to court records, Tylar Greenough, 30, climbed through a second-story window on Friday, August 28, breaking an active Protection from Abuse order. Once inside, investigators said he refused to allow the family leave, bouncing between the residence and a nearby hotel while threatening them with a gun and hitting the adults.
Police believe the incident was driven by jealousy. Greenough was reportedly unhappy that his ex was seeing another man. The woman told investigators that he threatened to kill her grandma and child in front of her before turning the gun on her.
Greenough compelled the woman to meet with the other man, which worsened the situation. According to authorities, he forced the older woman and the child into the car’s trunk, hid in the back seat, and urged his ex to drive.
When the man got in the automobile, Greenough attacked him. The man managed to leap out and flee, prompting Greenough to get behind the wheel and attempt to run him down many times. Afterward, Greenough forced the woman to go to the police station and make a false sexual assault report against the male.
The nightmare ended on Monday. After Greenough returned everyone to their homes and left for work, the women went immediately to the police. Officers saw that both adult victims had severe bruising and obvious injuries from the assaults.
When Greenough returned to the house that afternoon, Uniontown cops were waiting for him. Officers detained him on the scene and discovered a firearm on him. Greenough is not allowed to carry a firearm under state law since he is a convicted felon.
According to the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office, Greenough is charged with various felonies, including kidnapping with intent to inflict damage or terror and aggravated assault.
