A convicted felon has been sent to jail after officials discovered guns and drugs at a Hammond-area home, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony Thomas, 28, is facing several accusations, including possessing weapons, illegal narcotics, and being a convicted criminal in possession of a handgun. He is also accused of possessing a controlled substance, a stolen firearm, drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, obstructing justice, and violating parole.
Earlier this week, the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole collaborated with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Hammond Police to monitor Thomas, who is on parole. Thomas has already served time for aggravated assault with a firearm and unauthorized use of weapons.
During the inspection, cops detained Thomas for breaking his parole. The arrest prompted investigators to launch a bigger investigation.
Officers from both departments searched a residence off Airport Road in the Hammond community. Inside, they discovered three pistols, three AR-style pistols, ammo, gun attachments, and illegally obtained marijuana and prescription drugs.
A 22-year-old man who was also present at the house during the search was arrested on multiple narcotics counts.
