A family had trusted Arays Izquierdo so much that they gave her a key to their home in West Miami, and she betrayed them by stealing more than $268,000 in jewels, according to police.
A Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, two Louis Vuitton bracelets worth nearly $150,000, and a gold bracelet for $95,650 were among the items stolen by Izquierdo while working as the family’s maid, according to a police arrest report.
“She had pawned multiple items consistent with property reported missing by the victim,” a West Miami police officer noted in the report.
Police officers recently inspected Izquierdo’s Hialeah apartment and discovered “multiple items that had previously been reported missing from the victim’s residence,” according to the report.
According to the arrest record, the property was found in Izquierdo’s “bedroom and closet and was recovered as part of the investigation,” a police officer noted.
According to the police report, the victims said that Izquierdo stole a 24-karat gold knot chain, Cartier bracelets, two Cuban link chains, and a custom-made diamond bracelet.
The list also includes Cartier’s nail necklace, a Capricorn pendant, a set of white gold diamond earrings, and a gold diamond necklace.
According to court records, Miami police arrested Izquierdo on November 21 and charged her with first-degree misdemeanor petit theft at a Target in the Flagami area. Miami-Dade prosecutors dismissed the case.
According to a police report, cops from Hialeah and West Miami detained Izquierdo at her apartment shortly before 9 a.m. on August 20.
Corrections booked Izquierdo shortly after 12:40 a.m. on Thursday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to Miami-Dade inmate records.
Izquierdo was charged with burglary of an occupied house and first-degree grand theft, according to Miami-Dade court documents. A judge ordered her to remain away from her relatives in West Miami. Her bond was $20,000.
Tanya Brinkley, a Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge, was set to rule over the case.
