A teenage boy was thrown from a flipped car and taken to a hospital following a crash on northbound Interstate 295 in D.C. on Friday morning, according to police.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:53 a.m. on I-295, just north of the Malcolm X Avenue exit.
Officers arriving to the incident discovered a juvenile male who had been ejected from the vehicle. He was airlifted to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
There is no information about the boy’s condition.
The driver, an adult woman, was detained on the spot and sent to a hospital for treatment, according to MPD. Charges against her are pending.
Earlier Friday, a crash closed the northbound lanes of I-295, prompting authorities to warn drivers to use other routes.
There is no information on how the vehicle rolled over or what charges the driver may face.
The MPD’s Major Crash Unit is investigating.
