A driver tested positive for several narcotics and was detained after smashing into a wall in north Phoenix last week, according to authorities.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Highway Patrol, troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 17 at Pinnacle Peak Road on Thursday after a car collided with the median several times and became immobilized.
When troopers arrived on the scene, they noticed the driver exhibiting several indications and symptoms of impairment. The driver was unable to pass field sobriety tests because he had difficulties maintaining his balance.
He was apprehended and provided a SoToxa sample, which was positive for fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Authorities said charges against the driver were pending the results of a blood test.
