2 hurt and boater apprehended after boat hits personal watercraft, Belle Isle police say

A Belle Isle man is facing boating under the influence charges following a collision between his boat and a personal watercraft that wounded two individuals, according to police.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday on Little Lake Conway.

According to the arrest report, 63-year-old Steven Adams’ orange and white boat collided with a blue Yamaha personal watercraft. Police reported that the two PWC riders were taken to the hospital with suspected arm injuries.

Adams first fled the scene until cops discovered him near the Perkins Boat Ramp. He admitted to driving the boat at the time of the collision. According to the arrest report, officers observed Adams with bloodshot, watery eyes, slow movements, and a stench of alcohol on his breath.

Adams failed poorly in field sobriety tests and then refused to give a breath sample.

Adams was accused of boating under the influence and refusing to take a legal test.
