Six people have been arrested in connection with an alleged organized retail theft ring that stole over $500,000 worth of merchandise from businesses across the D.C. region and several states, according to Prince George’s County police.
Investigators believe the criminals targeted over 100 businesses in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Police reported that some shops were struck many times.
Police described the individuals as frequent offenders who stole a range of merchandise, including tools, clothing, and other items that might be swiftly resold.
“It was their profession.” This is what they do,” Prince George’s County Police Chief Malik Aziz Nader told a press conference. “They go out all day, every day, and steal from various merchants in the region and across states. They resale these products. “They occasionally take orders for these items.”
Suspects were identified as:
- Daryl Michael Jackson, 30, of Washington, D.C.
- Cyan Rocke, 25, of Capitol Heights
- Marco Morgan, 37, of Washington, D.C.
- Tia Courtney, 31, of Capitol Heights
- Chyna Parker, 26, of Suitland
- Quasaan Parker, 22, of Suitland
The inquiry began in February 2025, following a series of retail thefts in Prince George’s County. Police say the crime spread to multiple jurisdictions after the police established its organized retail theft task force in February 2026.
On Monday morning, law enforcement authorities in Maryland and Washington, D.C., executed six search warrants simultaneously.
Police said they seized about $20,000 worth of suspected stolen merchandise, including items with security tags still attached.
County Executive Aisha Braveboy stated that the arrests reflect a collaborative effort by retailers, local police, and federal authorities to combat organized theft activities.
“Today’s arrest should send a clear message to those organizations,” Braveboy stated. “We will work with our retailers and law enforcement partners to identify you, arrest you, and hold you accountable.”
The accused are facing enhanced charges under recent Maryland legislation that allows prosecutors to combine crimes from several stores and locations as part of organized retail crime investigations. Three of the six suspects face federal accusations.
The charges come as merchants and law enforcement agencies across the country are increasingly concerned about organized retail theft. According to authorities, criminals frequently work in coordinated gangs to steal huge quantities of stuff that may be resold online, at flea markets, or through other channels.
The case also raises concerns regarding repeat offenders and the prosecution of retail theft charges in Prince Georges County. According to authorities, all six of the suspects charged have previously been arrested.
Quassan Parker, one of the defendants, was charged with 11 counts of theft in 2023 after allegedly taking products from Oxon Hill retailers. The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office did not prosecute the charges at the time.
When asked how the current case differs from earlier prosecutions, Nader cited both the federal involvement and Maryland’s increased organized retail stealing statutes.
“I know with the implementation of the federal charges that sends a strong message, but also the higher-tier charges that are fairly new to the State of Maryland send a message as well,” Nader stated. “We’re not going to tolerate it in the state, and we’re not going to tolerate it in Prince George’s County.”
Nader stated that investigators will continue to investigate organized retail theft gangs operating in the county and around the area.
“We are watching, and we’re going to continue to investigate and hold people accountable that are involved in these organized retail thefts,” he said.
More arrests are expected.
