A man is facing charges after a food delivery driver in Miami Gardens fatally shot a suspect he claimed tried to rob him, according to police.
The incident took place Thursday afternoon in the 20300 block of Northwest 34th Court.
According to a Friday news release from Miami Gardens Police, the shooter said he was delivering lunch when he was the victim of an armed robbery.
During the robbery, he claimed to have shot one of the suspects.
Officers came and discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Aventura Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police are still trying to identify him.
The shooter remained at the site and was apprehended by cops.
Witnesses reported seeing a second suspect fleeing the area and heading toward a white vehicle, prompting police to issue a “Be On the Lookout” alert.
The vehicle was later discovered near Miramar, and the second suspect, 18-year-old Jabari Joshua Thomas, was arrested, police said.
Thomas was arrested and placed into jail on charges of second-degree criminal murder and armed robbery related to the event.
