Niles police are searching for two suspects in a home invasion and assault.
Police responded to a call at about 11 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Marion Street on Tuesday night.
When police arrived, they discovered that the victim had been assaulted throughout the encounter but was not seriously hurt. She did not require medical treatment.
According to authorities, the woman stated that she had just returned home and was unlocking the door when two black males approached her. Police said both suspects had guns. The suspects then entered the home besides the victim. Once inside, they allegedly grabbed money and other personal belongings.
Police are investigating and requesting assistance in identifying the two suspects. Police are asking for security and doorbell camera footage from the crime scene, as well as witnesses to unusual activities in the neighbourhood.
