NHP: Driver apprehended after 130 MPH traffic stop on I-15 near Sloan

A weekend traffic stop resulted in an arrest after troopers say a vehicle was spotted speeding down a Nevada freeway at nearly twice the limit.

According to Nevada State Police, a trooper stopped a white BMW X5 on northbound I-15 near Sloan after noticing it speeding at around 130 mph in a 70 mph zone. The driver was later arrested on allegations of speeding and dangerous driving.

Officials emphasized that freeways are not racetracks, and that high speeds endanger both the driver and others.

They also state that excessive speed and intoxicated driving are major contributors in fatal incidents, and troopers will maintain high-visibility enforcement to help avoid traffic deaths.
