A Toledo firefighter and professional boxer has been indicted on felony charges after allegedly stealing from an internal station account.
Deandre Ware, 38, is charged with fifth-degree theft and fourth-degree felony telecommunications fraud.
According to court documents, Ware reportedly exploited an in-house fund at Fire Station 4 for personal purposes, making unauthorized withdrawals and transactions totaling more than $1,000 over a six-month period.
The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department has previously declined to comment on the current situation.
Ware previously received national attention and was given a key to the city in 2020 for performing life-saving CPR on a boxing official who went into cardiac arrest during a weigh-in in Las Vegas.
Ware’s arraignment date at Lucas County Common Pleas have not yet been set.
