Two men have been taken into custody after a 45-year-old Frankfort man was discovered dead in a vehicle on Saturday.
Jose Armando Castellon Garcia (24) and Cristian Piceno Castellon (19) are facing preliminary charges of murder.
According to prior reports, around 9:17 p.m., deputies from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Frankfort Police Department officers rushed to the 800 block of County Road 200 West to investigate a single-vehicle crash.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a vehicle that had been driven into a field west of the road.
Robert Mendoza (45) of Frankfort was discovered dead inside the vehicle with obvious gunshot wounds. Investigators suspect the crash started south of the incident scene and terminated just inside Frankfort’s city boundaries.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including Indiana State Police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
