An Alabama woman was taken into custody for felony intimidation after allegedly pulling out a butcher knife and threatening to “cut” a man during a road rage incident in Carmel.
Jamericah Odum, 32, of Tuscaloosa, was arrested last Friday and held in the Hamilton County Jail on a $25,000 bond. She has now been charged with intimidation, disorderly behavior, and resisting law enforcement.
The allegations come from an alleged road rage incident that occurred shortly before noon on July 17. According to court records, a man called police to report that a woman had threatened him after pulling up next to his car at the intersection of 116th Street and AAA Way.
The alleged victim reported to police that the woman, later identified as Odum, was driving a gray 2015 Chrysler 200 with an Alabama license plate. Odum reportedly rolled down her window and showed the man a butcher knife, brandishing it at him while yelling.
“If you ever get in front of me again, I’ll cut you!” she allegedly threatened.
According to court documents, Odum used a butcher knife that was nearly a foot long and had an 8-inch blade. She reportedly “waved it in a threatening motion” before parking at the busy intersection, exiting her vehicle, and photographing the victim’s car and license plate.
Carmel police quickly apprehended Odum inside her car and gave her “loud and clear commands” to sit down and place her hands outside the window. However, she allegedly refused and proceeded to fidget inside her car.
According to police, Odum “kept forcibly pulling away and twisting her body, resisting officers’ commands and now allowing them to place her in handcuffs.” Odum allegedly “forced her hand out almost immediately” after being placed in double-locked handcuffs.
According to police, all of this occurred at a heavily trafficked, multilane intersection, making Odum’s actions erratic and endangering several people. According to police, her behavior “was likely to result in serious bodily injury.”
Odum was brought to the Hamilton County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 bond. Official charges were filed on Monday in Hamilton Superior Court. Charges include:
- Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon – Level 5 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement – Class A Misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct (Tumultuous Fighting) – Class B Misdemeanor
An initial hearing in Odum’s case was held on Monday afternoon, and a no-contact protective order was issued. A jury trial has yet to be scheduled, according to online court records.
