27‑year‑old Woman dies after getting an anti‑aging shot at Bronx clinic: Police

A woman died after getting an anti-aging injection at a naturopathic lifestyle center in the Bronx, officials said.

At 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive person at a local hospital.

A 27-year-old woman was brought in unconscious and unresponsive from Bereshit Lifestyle Center, located at 3190 Riverdale Avenue, according to police. The woman was eventually pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Police detained 55-year-old Luis Rojas Cabrera of Passaic, New Jersey, in connection with the case. He is charged with reckless endangerment and unlicensed practice of a profession. The lifestyle center’s website lists Cabrera as an M.D., surgeon, and naturopath.

Officials stated that Cabrera is licensed in the Dominican Republic but not in New York or the United States.

According to officials, investigators from the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner are awaiting a toxicology report to determine whether additional charges should be filed.

The woman’s identify was not published, and no other information was immediately available.
