Woman taken into custody on statutory rape charge in Holly Springs

A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody on a statutory rape charge after an investigation by the Holly Springs Police Department.

According to authorities, Ciara Hughes, 21, was detained on Friday and charged with statutory rape under Mississippi law.

Hughes was taken to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, where she was detained and held pending bond.

The inquiry began on July 9 when family members of a 15-year-old boy filed a report with the Holly Springs Police Department, according to an incident report.

Investigators stated that family members gave evidence from a cellphone as part of the inquiry. Police also stated that the victim’s mother requested that criminal charges be filed.

Following the investigation, authorities filed charges and arrested Hughes on Friday.
