A mass shooting on Chicago’s West Side early Sunday morning injured six people, mostly teenagers.
The Chicago Police Department said that officers arrived at the incident in the 3800 block of W. Maypole Avenue in West Garfield Park around 1:34 a.m.
According to authorities, several people were hit by gunfire while standing outside.
- An 18-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks and right arm. She was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
- A 19-year-old man was shot in the foot. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
- A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- A 20-year-old man was shot multiple times. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- A 17-year-old boy was shot twice in the neck. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- An 18-year-old man was shot once in the leg. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Sinai Hospital in good condition.
About ten minutes before the mass shooting, police rushed to the same location for a 17-year-old girl who had been shot in her chest. She was sent to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Police stated that the incident was a distinct event from the horrific shooting.
No other injuries were reported.
Detectives in the area are conducting an investigation.
