Suspect arrested after SWAT situation in Richmond County

A man was arrested early Thursday morning following a SWAT situation in Richmond County, according to authorities.

Deputies arrived at the Quality Inn, 2154 Gordon Highway, around 12:30 a.m., for a barricaded suspect and a suspected hostage situation.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect threatened deputies on the site, claiming that he would “shoot them in the head” if they attempted to obtain admission.

Negotiations and tactical tactics led to the suspect’s arrest at 2:30 a.m., according to deputies.

Deputies claim the potential hostage was uninjured. Neither deputies nor citizens was wounded during the event.
