Winter Haven Police: Missing 13-Year-Old Janiyah Bright Found Safe

UPDATE: Winter Haven police confirmed that 13-year-old Janiyah Bright has been found and is safe, putting an end to an urgent multi-city search.

Following her successful recovery, authorities extended their gratitude to the people. “Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word to help us find her,” the department said.

The search began after Janiyah left her Cloverdale Road home about 10:30 a.m. today, following a verbal disagreement with her mother. Police initially classed her as endangered due to “extremely disturbing comments yesterday about harming herself.”

ORIGINAL: The Winter Haven Police Department is appealing for the public’s immediate aid in locating a missing 13-year-old girl who is deemed endangered. Janiyah Bright was last seen around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. According to authorities, Janiyah fled her house on Cloverdale Road after a verbal dispute with her mother. Police reported that the adolescent made “extremely disturbing comments about harming herself yesterday,” prompting serious worries for her safety.

Investigators think Janiyah was picked up by a vehicle and taken to Lakeland, where she was dropped off near the intersection of Skyview and Fairway Avenues.

Janiyah was last spotted in a black crop top and blue-and-yellow pajama bottoms.

Local authorities are urging anyone who sees Janiyah or has any information about her current location to call 9-1-1 immediately.
