Man connected to attempted armed robbery at Lebanon jewelry store apprehended in Memphis

The Lebanon Police Department reported that Memphis authorities may have apprehended a man linked to an attempted armed robbery at a local jewelry store.

According to LPD, the Memphis Police Department informed them of the arrest of 44-year-old Anthony Tilghman overnight.

The MPD’s license plate reader system alerted officers to the presence of a white Infiniti in their neighborhood.

When MPD police spotted the vehicle, they attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit.

Following the pursuit, MPD officers arrested Tilghman of North Carolina.

LPD claims that Tilghman could be connected to an attempted armed robbery at Winfrey’s Jewelry in Lebanon.

Tilghman will face charges in Lebanon for attempted armed robbery, four counts of aggravated assault, and unauthorized possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, in addition to those linked to the Memphis pursuit, according to LPD.

“We appreciate the diligence of our detectives, who quickly identified the white Infiniti and its license plate number from surveillance footage and promptly utilized our SafeNet license plate reader system,” LPD wrote on Facebook. “We are also grateful for the strong partnership and assistance provided by the Memphis Police Department.”
