Man taken into custody after allegedly breaking in, threatening homeowner with medieval-style weapon

Zachary Bailey was taken into custody by Louisville Metro Police on Saturday after officers claim he broke into a residence and chased a resident with a medieval flail-style weapon.

According to court papers, officers responded around 5 p.m. on June 13 to a report that an unknown guy had broken into a residence and was chasing the female occupant’s husband with a baseball bat.

When cops came, both homeowners were outside and informed them that the subject was still inside.

The man kicked in the back door and broke a window before threatening to kill the male victim, according to court documents.

Police said the man was armed with a tiny bat with a metal, spiked ball tied to a chain and chased the victim out of the house while swinging the weapon. Officers say the suspect returned inside and later departed through the front entrance, where he was apprehended.

Officers discovered the weapon inside the home at the front door and claimed the suspect had the victim’s personal belongings in his pockets.

Bailey is charged with first-degree burglary and wanton endangerment. According to court documents, Bailey’s cash bond was set at $50,000. The arraignment is planned for 9 a.m. on June 15 in Jefferson District Court.
