A local man was taken into custody on rape charges after leading authorities on a chase that ended in a crash in Greene County late Friday night.
Previously, News Center 7 stated that law enforcement was conducting a “targeted enforcement operation” in search of a man wanted on a felony warrant.
According to a press release, the warrant was issued following a joint investigation by the Licking County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) into an individual suspected of sexually abusing their biological child in Licking County and producing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Investigators identified the suspect as Kevin Daniel Kauff, 25, of Jamestown, Ohio.
Detectives also identified the child victim and discovered the home where the abuse was occurring. Based on the evidence gathered, Kauff was given an arrest warrant for one count of rape.
Kauff was apprehended in Greene County after numerous law enforcement agencies worked together.
When Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop him, Kauff fled on his motorbike, sparking a chase, News Center 7 previously reported.
Kauff drove to the dead end of East Hoop Road in Xenia Township, then crossed a field and crashed on Jasper Road. He was then arrested by Greene County deputies.
Kauff was then taken and put into the Licking County Jail, where he is being kept until further court procedures.
The probe is still active and ongoing. Additional charges may be imposed pending further investigation.
