An 18-year-old girl and her best friend were shot and killed by the girl’s boyfriend in what appeared to be a murder-suicide in Kentucky, occurring as she attempted to end their relationship.
James Priddy, 21, killed his girlfriend, Jadeance Hale, 18, along with her friend, Lila Asher, 19, on June 6, before turning the gun on himself, according to a press release from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities had received a report about a “possible domestic violence situation” after three people left a home to get something to eat, prompting concern from their parents.
After they left, Lila called and told her they were stopping at Priddy’s house, although that had never been part of the plan.
A woman called 911 because she was concerned about her daughter being in a car with a man and his girlfriend.
WKYT also revealed a 911 call in which a sobbing woman detailed her fear after learning her daughter was in the car with a man and another woman, and that the man wouldn’t let any of them leave.
WKYT chose not to air that audio due to the sensitive nature of the call.
Police say Jadeance Hale was ending her relationship with Priddy and that Lila Asher was there to support her.
According to the release, police “located the vehicle, which failed to stop, resulting in a pursuit into Laurel County from Knox County.”
When the pursuit ended, the bodies of Priddy, Hale, and Asher were found inside the vehicle.
A GoFundMe has been created to raise money for Hale and Asher’s funerals.
