A man who pleaded guilty to negligent discharge of a handgun in the death of a 20-year-old woman in Sumpter Township was sentenced to probation.
The shooting took place on March 18 at a home on Edgewood Drive. Police claimed they discovered the woman in the street with a gunshot wound to her chest. She died at the scene.
Jordan Dejuan Winn was arrested and charged with careless discharge of a handgun, resulting in damage or death. On May 8, he pleaded guilty.
Police believe Winn and the victim knew each other.
Winn was sentenced on June 5 to two years of probation and 40 hours of community service. He was also forced to pay more than $15,000 to the victim’s relatives.
