Despite multiple prior convictions, this criminal flooded our streets with more than 40 pounds of this poison and has been a large-scale drug trafficker for over two decades. We pursued an appropriately strong penalty in this case, and we will continue to do so to protect our communities from these dangerous drugs.United States Attorney Moore Capito

According to the press release, Nelson’s previous criminal background includes trafficking substantial quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine base, cocaine, and marijuana. Nelson was charged with the current counts by a federal grand jury in October 2022 but was not arrested until May 16, 2024.

According to the press release, on August 24, 2023, Reger was sentenced to five years and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The statement was made by US Attorney Moore Capito, who commended the Parkersburg Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for their contributions to the investigation.
