Two children are dead following a domestic dispute between a husband and wife in the Valley, the Glendale Police Department said.
Officers entered a house on 47th Avenue and Bell Road early Monday morning and discovered a woman and two children, a 10-year-old boy and an 18-month-old girl, who had died from apparent gunshot wounds.
Andrea Davis, 38, is the woman who died. Phoenix police say Davis shot her two children before committing suicide. A firearm was found inside the home.
Law enforcement officials believe the deaths are linked to an event reported earlier at around midnight in Glendale.
Officers were dispatched to a bar at 59th Avenue and Bell Road after receiving a report of firearms fired. According to officials, a man claimed that his wife had shot him while he was at the bar.
As police came, they discovered a 36-year-old lady, who was not the suspect, with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Police said the man said that his wife arrived at the bar and began firing at him. She then left the area in a gray SUV.
After securing the situation, the injured woman was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said she’s likely to live.
A short time later, the man who was allegedly shot at started getting text messages from his wife, who was identified as the suspect. According to authorities, the text suggested that she intended to hurt their children.
The man stated that his wife was with their children at the Phoenix home at 47th Avenue and Bell Road. Police from Glendale and Phoenix arrived at the scene and discovered the three bodies.
Before officials arrived, the dad apparently received a text from his wife, including an image of one of the children with a head injury.
Felicia Queen, a cousin of the children’s father, constructed a memorial near the residence. “They didn’t deserve it; they still had their entire lives ahead of them, and it’s not fair,” Queen added.
Davis and her husband were in the process of divorce at the time of the shooting. Please pray for these infants; they did not deserve this. Pray for him so he can get through it. “Pray for our family,” Queen stated.
Just pray for these infants; they did not deserve it. Pray for him so he can get through it. Please pray for our family.
