Joshua Cory Nealy, 41, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release following a lengthy history of criminal charges, including attempted rape, sexual assault, and public indecency.
Judge Theodore Sims imposed the true-life sentence in Washington County Circuit Court after Nealy was convicted of public obscenity and second-degree theft.
Nealy’s criminal record dates back to 1999, with 166 arrests, 48 misdemeanors, and seven felony convictions. Robbery and assault make up the remainder of his criminal record.
His true life sentence was imposed following his guilty plea to public indecency under Oregon Statute ORS 137.719, which establishes a presumption sentence for a felony sex crime with at least two prior convictions.
According to court filings, Nealy went into a clothing store at Washington Square Mall in January 2023, pocketed a pair of sunglasses, and then asked a female employee for a changing room to try on clothes.
Nealy then summoned the employee to the dressing room for assistance before exposing himself and inviting her to have sex with him.
Nealy was transported to the Oregon Department of Corrections to serve out his sentence.
