Human remains discovered in a wooded area in Hanover Borough have been identified as a York County man who had been missing since last year, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities identified the remains as those of Mark Hicks, 39, of Thomasville.
Around 7:23 a.m. on April 16, Hanover Borough police were dispatched to a wooded area near the 400 block of East Middle Street after remains were discovered.
Investigators later utilized dental data to identify the remains as Hicks, who had been reported missing since June 2025.
According to the coroner’s office, Hicks died of asphyxiation, which was declared a suicide.
Officials stated that Hicks’ family has been alerted.
